Washington Co. Tenn. receives $473000 to help economic growth

WASHINGTON CO., Tenn. -

Washington County, Tenn. is receiving a state grant to help economic growth. The $473,000 grant will go toward building the foundations and roads for two more sites at the countys industrial park.

Mayor Dan Eldridge said this will help attract more businesses to the county. Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner, Randy Boyd, said Washington County is just one of 15 in the state to receive a grant.

They already had a great site that needed just a little help, Commissioner Boyd said. And the community put up a match, so the community stepped up. They werent just looking for a handout. They were just looking for some additional help to match what they were already going to do.

Mayor Eldridge said the county has already committed $800,000 to the project.
